Dennis woke up in a tent that he pitched the evening before. It is the morning after his harsh training. The sun blared at his face through the nylon screen 'window'. Ivan let itself out of its pokeball. "How are you doing that?" The dratini moved aside, and let Dennis undo and pack their things. They were then accompanied by the sounds of a growl. It wasn't a wild pokemon, rather themselves. They haven't eaten in two days. Of course, Dennis ran short on money. $400. That's all he had in his pocket. Perhaps he would find something. He wouldn't look in the garbage, he wasn't homeless, he's just far from home. Their stomachs growled again. The dratini wavered in the air tiredly, with its tail held where a stomach would be on a human.

"Time to finish this battle." Maximillion said with a decisive look on his face. Then, he moved his left hand at his hair and shook them while pointing towards Dratini once again with the other hand. He said "Elekid. Use Thundershock while it is coming to you." and Elekid did so, in an attempt to shock the dragon type pokemon and defeat it. The battle had just reached its peak. Who would emerge victorious? Maximillion or Dennis? The two trainers and their pokemon would find out soon. Very soon...

The dratini took the hit, barrel rolling on the ground, regaining composure near the elekid. Without hesitation, it lunged again, aiming for its legs, attempting to trip it. This wouldn't have been a more heated battle had they even been a higher tier. Dennis stood up straight again, forcing a smile. He looked at his opponent to see his still earnest expression.

"Jump while performing Quick Attack." the trainer commanded his pokemon and Elekid jumped high on the air, dodging the Wrap attack at the last second. Then, as soon as it landed on the ground, it took a deep breath. Apparently, its paralyzed state effected it and it couldn't attack for a second after dodging while Dratini was off-guard.

"Damn..." Maximillion said with a surprised face. Apparently, he had forgot about that possible situation. However, seeing Elekid recovering, he said once more. "Go with a full power Thundershock, Elekid!" and the pokemon launched the electric attack towards Dratini in an attempt to finally defeat it...

Because of the quick way that dratini moved, it was able to (just barely) dodge elekid's attack. It moved strongly as it always did, quickly, once again lunging at its prey, again trying to strangle it, and take its meal.
"Alright Ivan, you've got him on the ropes now" The trainer encouraged. He saw that neither of them were really close to death, though Dennis had thought of the possibility Ivan could easily just continuously dodge, wearing out his opponent. This would no doubt be a close game. Both trainers are no doubt strong, and have amazing potential. Their views were different, that much was obvious, but what they felt...
Dennis continued glaring at his opponent, as though he was attempting to use his own leer attack. Though of course, humans can't learn pokemon moves. Dennis had also thought of this, mostly as something silly. Whatever, your mind must still be on the battle. We wouldn't want to lose.

Elekid was squized by Dratini's Wrap. However, that was better for the pokemon itself. While getting wrapped by the pokemon it could go with an all-out attack and defeat Dratini once and for all. With an evil look on his face the trainer said "Relax Elekid. That will do nothing to you. Use your Thundershock at full power while striking swiftly with a Quick Attack.". Afterwards, Elekid started launching a powerful Thundershock with much of its strength. The pokemon used much of its strength, but still not enough so that it would not get too tired... With Dratini having it wrapped, Elekid and Maximillion were pretty sure that Dratini would be defeated... And on top of that, the electric pokemon swiftly moved its hand to strike with a Quick Attack as well.

Dratini was hanging on its adversaries' leg. The electric attack, though damaging it, still wasn't enough to put it down. If elekid were to use quick attack again, it would trip, leaving it vulnerable. Electric attack of course don't work on dratini. This was a strange match up. "You tired yet, Max?" Dennis asked "why are you so serious all the time?" He brushed his messy black hair with his left hand. With the other hand, he pointed. "Sick him!" Dratini tightened its grip, choking the leg, stopping blood from flowing to it.

Maximillion smiled and closed his eyes while moving his head downwards. The answer to Dennis' question was pretty obvious... He responded "Hmph. You should see it... It is just that I am not pathetic.". Then, without even looking at his pokemon, he said "Okay. You are powered up enoug, Elekid. Strike with Thundershock once more.".

Afterwards, something weird started going on. Sparks appeared around Elekid's body. It seemed like the Wrap attack activated its Static ability. However, this time the sparks did not aim to paralyze Dratini but to power up Elekid's Thundershock instead. Despite the fact that Elekid was getting squizzed and damaged by Dratini, it kept going on with its trainer's plan. It was determined to win, as well and so it would not allow itself to lose to a Wrap.

"Pathetic" Dennis said "you like using that word. Don't you?" Dennis looked up, determined. "I'd like to chit chat all day, but my pokemon aren't going to feed themselves. You see, we've been hungry for a while. Not only that... we want to win." The dratini quickly shook off the thunderbolt. It let go of elekid, and strangled it again. Wrapping its body completely around where its neck would be. "You know what to do!"

"Okay. This should be your last move." the trainer commanded his pokemon, ignoring Dennis' words completely. He said "Use Quick Attack with your feet and jump.". Afterwards, Elekid started hitting the ground rapidly with its attack and gave enough force to itself to jump high and get out of Dratini's Wrap. Then, Maximillion pointed towards the sky and said "And now, Thundershock from above." while Elekid launched a Thundershock to Dratini while it was still on the air, in a similar way of a cloud bringing a thunder...

Dratini simply refused to let go. It even increased its grip. The jolt of electricity didn't damage it. At this point, it kept the adrenaline going, like a man in CPR. "What a pompous jerk. Maybe you're the one who's pathetic." Or perhaps Dennis was- if for a brief moment, becoming Max. Throwing off his pokemon's own well being, if only for a few seconds. Never the less, dratini was okay. It was too busy thinking about the fight anyways. This time, dratini decided to take initiative. While they were descending, although dratini was mortally wounded, it was able to push itself atop of elekid, as if using it to flatten its impact. The effect would be similar to a seismic toss, though, this time, self imposed.

"Quick Attack!" the trainer said and Elekid turned behind to strike Dratini with a swift hit. The two attacks of the two pokemon collided and Elekid was sent on the ground. Hopefully, though, it landed on its feet and so it avoided getting more damaged. The collision damaged Elekid... Now, the trainer and the pokemon waited to see whether or not Dratini got damaged. What a battle... Maximillion never had such a hard battle before. It was very difficult to predict who would emerge victorious. Maximillion or Dennis?

Dratini, being the type of pokemomn it is, was able to regain composure simply by moving around, and float in the air, not taking any damage from the fall. It seemed the climax of the fight was over. Which side was favored this day, was uncertain. Rising action, falling action, denouement. Hopefully, he would be the winner, except the heroes always win- except- was he the hero? Dratini struck again. It seemed more primal with each attack, though still retaining its graceful movement. It used wrap attack again. What else could it do? It's the only purely offensive attack it had.

"Interfere with Thundershock once again." the trainer asked his pokemon and Elekid did so. As Dratini moved towards Elekid, the trainer's pokemon started launching small electrical bolts from its body that moved towards the dragon type pokemon, in an attempt to hit it. Maximillion wished that attack was enough to make the pokemon fall unconscious... At least, as it stood so long against his Elekid, he could not deny that Dratini was a powerful pokemon... The battle was coming to an end.

Dennis, after his pokemon now struggle, he returned it to its pokeball. "I'm sorry, but I'll have to concede the match" Dennis handed the man the money he promised "I know you'll understand- well... maybe not, but I can't let it just die, then what kind of person would I be?" Of course, Honiso didn't have a "PETA", but it just didn't seem right to him.

"Hmph." the trainer said once again, with an ironic look on his face that showed that he expected a move like that from Dennis' side. He could see that happening. After all, trainers who cared about their pokemon could never let them faint... That was the main reason he called them pathetic. He took a deep breath and spoke his words, mocking the trainer "There is no need to worry. I know what kind of person you are.". Then, he turned his back and said while leaving "Anyway. The next time we meet, the battle is going to be easier...". Maximillion was such a jerk...

Dennis tried not to offensively retaliate to his remark. Simply, he fed his dratini a rare candy, and left to train once more.
