The sound of feet echoed through one of the streets of Jisa passing. The moon was high in the sky. It was late at night. Most everyone was asleep by now. But one person was still up.
Arina walked slowly down the dimly lit street. Kara, her Pichu was sitting in her shoulder. Mark, her Kricketot, was snuggled in her arms. He was scared.
"Kri icky..." Mark chirped nervously. Arina looked down at her scared Kricketot. "Don't worry Mark; nothing’s going to get us," She said, trying to reassure him. "Pichu pi," Kara said from her shoulder, looking around. Normally, the Pichu would be running around but she was feeling a little nervous.
"Come on guys, don't be scared. We have to come out at night if we want to catch a dark type Pokémon. I've even heard that Absol live here and that’s what we're going to catch!" Arina said to both of her Pokemon. She had her mind set on finding an Absol and she thought that they would have a better chance of finding one at night time.
Kara and Mark exchanged shocked glances. "Pichu pi!" Kara said to her trainer frantically. They had all heard rumors that Absol brought disaster where ever they went. Mark snuggled deeper into Arina. I've got one crazy trainer. He thought to himself.
Arina didn't understand what Kara was trying to tell her though. She just thought that Kara was worried that they would get hurt or something. "Don't worry Kara. Nothing will happen," Arina said confidently, petting her Pichu's head to comfort her. Kara realized that her trainer hadn't understood and sighed. She gave up after that.
Arina continued to walk. She looked around into the shadows, hoping to find an Absol. If she didn’t, then this would be a good time to train.

Arina walked forward, smiling. It didn't seem like this would take forever to get there. Mark peered at the map trying to read it but all it looked like was a bunch of lines to him. I it didn't make any sense at all! He didn't understand how Arina could tell what it meant and stared at it confused. Arina noticed this and chuckled. It wasn't that big of a surprise that Mark didn't know how to read it when there were people how couldn't read maps.
Kara was the first one to reach the path. She hadn't been paying much attention to where she was going and had stumbled into someone, causing her to squeak. She jumped back and looked up. Arina had heard Kara and ran after her. Seeing the trainer and Kara's face, it wasn't difficult to figure what had happened. "I'm sorry!" Arina said to the trainer while she scooped Kara up from the ground. "Sometimes my Pichu just gets distracted by everything going on and she doesn't pay attention to where she's going." Arina explained quickly, her words coming out in a jumble. She didn't want the trainer to get mad or anything. Nina just followed behind Arina and watched, mildly interested in what was happening. Mark looked down at Kara while she looked up at the trainer sheepishly.

Arina let out a small sigh of relief that Kara had run into a friendly person, not a mean one. She then grinned at the girl.
"My name's Ariana but you can call me Arina if you want to. It's nice to meet you Irena." Arina said, walking beside the other girl. "You know what, our names sound really similar." She said, realizing how similar the two sounded.
Kara wiggled out of Arina's grasp then jumped onto her head. "Pichu!" She chirped. It seemed like she was saying hi.
"And this is Kara," Arina said, "this is Mark, and over there is Nina." She pointed to each Pokémon as she said their name. Mark looked shyly at Irena before looking away. Nina had gotten up and was currently ignoring Irena, Arina, and all of the other people and Pokémon.
"Yep, I am entered in the tournament." Arina said, assuming that was what the Battle Royal was. If it wasn't then things were about to get confusing.

(Sorry this took so long. I've been busy with school and a few other things.)

Arina smiled. It was strange that their names sounded so similar but funny at the same time. It would only be confusing if they were together and someone called to one of them.
"Okay, thanks!" Arina said, waving as she watched Irena walk to where the spectators sat. The grin on her face grew wider with anticipation. She just couldn't lose. Not with Irena cheering her on.
As Irena drew out of site, Arina turned her attention to where she was supposed to go. The wide doors were welcoming and there were plenty of trainers walking through them. A bit of nervousness started to eat away at her excitement though. Even though there were plenty of people around her, she couldn't help but feel lonely, like she was in a room all by herself.
Arina took a deep breath. She could do this. And besides, she wasn't alone; she had all of her Pokémon with her. From shy little Mark, indifferent Nina, and excited Kara, they were there to back her up and she was there to back them up. She couldn't fail them.
Arina looked up. It was time to go. She didn't want to be late. Her Pokémon were counting on her to do her best. Arina made her way through the doors and into the arena. She was ready.

The first thing Arina noticed as she walked into the arena was all of the trainers. There were a lot of them but at least she wasn't the last one there. The second thing she noticed was the amount of people in the stands. Her breath caught in her throat. She hadn't expected this many people to show up. Arina immediately started to search for Irena in the crowd but it was like trying to find a needle in a haystack. She gave up pretty quickly.
As Arina started to walk to join the other trainers, she began to study them. Maybe she could learn something by looking at them.
Kara gazed around from Arina's shoulder excitedly. She couldn't wait for this to begin. A grin spread on her face. She believed that they would win no matter what.
Mark wasn't as optimistic and was nervous about the whole thing. He shifted nervously every once and a while and was thankful that no one was looking at them.
Nina was completely indifferent about the whole thing. She just walked beside Arina and glared at anyone who happened to give her a strange look.

Arina watched as the trainers began to walk to the old man and woman. She grinned with excitement. As she heard those words, her hands clinched in excitement. Kara chirped from on her head, obviously as excited as Arina was.
The familiar voice caused her to spin around. Arina's grin widened at the site of her friends.
"HI! AND I'M GOING TO WIN!" Arina yelled back.
"PICHU PI!" Kara yelled also. Her cheeks sparked in determination.
Arina turned around and ran into the crowd. With a determined, inexperienced Pichu, timid Kricketot, and an Absol who may or may not listen, Arina felt confident that she would win. It was a high hope that didn't really seem possibly but she was ready to try. Only time would tell what would happen though.

Arina followed the crowd. She grinned in excitement as she listened to all of the names being called out.
"Jax... So we're fighting some Jax dude." Arina said to herself.
"Pichu!" Kara chattered from her shoulder. She let off a little spark of excitement, getting herself pumped.
Mark was a little more nervous. He glanced around, wondering who this guy was. He didn't notice him in the back though.
Nina caught site of some guy staring at them. She glared back wondering who he was. She hadn't noticed him staring at them before so maybe he was this Jax dude.
"Hey Nina, what are you looking at?" Arina asked.
"Sol." Nina grumbled, turning away. Arina laughed as her Pokémon, guessing the she was just being grumpy. When Nina was sure that Arina wasn't looking though, she glared at the Jax dude again.

"Huh..." Arina looked up at the sound of Jax's voice. "So you must be Jax. Well I'm not going to lose."
"Pichu!" Kara said confidently. Both turned their attention back to the announcer as she announced the first battle was about to start.
Arina had watched each battle with interest. She might have to fight one of the people who had won.
Instead of watching the battles like everyone else was, Nina had curled up and dozed off in boredom. As Arina walked toward the arena, she realized that Nina wasn't following.
"Hey Nina! Come on!"
Nina blinked open her eyes and stretched. She padded uninterested after her trainer, looking like she would rather still be asleep.

Arina grinned. This was going to be great! It looked like Jax knew what he was doing but this didn't bother Arina at all. There was no way she was going to chicken out now.
Her eyes narrowed as the Luxio came out. Kara sparked on her shoulder excitedly but Arina knew that Kara didn't have any good moves that could help her. She also wasn't sure if Nina would listen or if she would just fall back asleep. That made Mark the best choice to use.
Arina glanced at the Kricketot. "Mark..." She whispered softly. She didn't want to force him to do something he didn't want to do.
"Kri icky." Mark chirped, jumping off of her shoulder. He gave her a half confident, half nervous look.
"Alright Mark, let's do this!" Arina yelled out. Mark walked out onto the field, at unease by how many people were watching them.

Arina was pumped as the announced the beginning of the battle. The leer attack did hit Mark and his defense was lowered. Arina narrowed her eyes. They were going to have to wait until they attacked with a move.
"Mark use growl." Mark nodded and let out a growl towards the Luxio, trying to lower it's attack power.
Arina grinned as she heard Shira yell. There was no way she was going to lose.
