The sound of feet echoed through one of the streets of Jisa passing. The moon was high in the sky. It was late at night. Most everyone was asleep by now. But one person was still up.
Arina walked slowly down the dimly lit street. Kara, her Pichu was sitting in her shoulder. Mark, her Kricketot, was snuggled in her arms. He was scared.
"Kri icky..." Mark chirped nervously. Arina looked down at her scared Kricketot. "Don't worry Mark; nothing’s going to get us," She said, trying to reassure him. "Pichu pi," Kara said from her shoulder, looking around. Normally, the Pichu would be running around but she was feeling a little nervous.
"Come on guys, don't be scared. We have to come out at night if we want to catch a dark type Pokémon. I've even heard that Absol live here and that’s what we're going to catch!" Arina said to both of her Pokemon. She had her mind set on finding an Absol and she thought that they would have a better chance of finding one at night time.
Kara and Mark exchanged shocked glances. "Pichu pi!" Kara said to her trainer frantically. They had all heard rumors that Absol brought disaster where ever they went. Mark snuggled deeper into Arina. I've got one crazy trainer. He thought to himself.
Arina didn't understand what Kara was trying to tell her though. She just thought that Kara was worried that they would get hurt or something. "Don't worry Kara. Nothing will happen," Arina said confidently, petting her Pichu's head to comfort her. Kara realized that her trainer hadn't understood and sighed. She gave up after that.
Arina continued to walk. She looked around into the shadows, hoping to find an Absol. If she didn’t, then this would be a good time to train.

Arina gulped, feeling nervous and excited at the same time. This would be her first trainer battle. Finally, the excitement took over and Arina eagerly followed the trainer outside. As she stepped out, she noticed that the trainer had six Pokeballs. This could be a problem... Well I hope she likes fair battles. Arina though to herself as she left.
Arina saw the trainer stop on one side of the battlefield so Arina ran over to the other side. She stood facing her opponent. Time to see if she likes fair battles. She thought to herself. "Hey! What kind of battle are we going to have? Three on three sound good to you?" She called over to her opponent.
Kara jumped to the ground, sparks erupting from her cheeks in excitement. She couldn't wait to start. Mark was less enthusiastic but could feel excitement even though it was more over powered by his nervous. He was feeling really nervous.

(Yeah, sorry Bill, when I first started I did it myself. Just check over the encounter rate list or something, to get an idea of how you select the encountered pokemon, hope it helps.)

"Ok. It’s nice to meet you Shira. My names Ariana but you can call me Arina." Arina said.At least she didn't ask why I said three on three. She watched to see what Pokémon, Shira would choose. An Azumarill. I think that's a water type. Then Kara would have the advantage. Arina thought to herself. "Ok, Kara, you’re up!" She yelled.
"Pichu!" Kara said. She then raced onto the battle field eagerly. Sparks flew from her cheeks and she fell into an attacking position. She was more than ready.
Arina noticed the dark voice that Shira had. What’s with her and being creepy? She thought to herself trying to ignore it. "Let's start this Kara! Use tail whip then follow it up with thundershock!" Arina called out to her Pokémon, confident that they could beat the Azumarill. She wasn't thinking about how the lowest level this Azumarill could be was level 20 and that was only if it had just evolved. She also wasn't thinking about how Kara was only level 5. They would need a whole lot of luck to win this one.
Kara nodded when she heard Arina yell. She focused her gaze back at the Azumarill and wagged her tail, trying to lower its defense. Right after that, Kara used thundershock. The electricity flew at the Azumarill. Only time would tell if it hit or not.

Arina watched as the tail whip hit but not the thundershock. Dang it. She thought to herself. She looked up and could see the water gun coming at Kara. "Kara, look out!" She yelled. Kara could see the water gun coming at her and jumped to the side, barely dodging it. Arina sighed in relief.
"Kara use tail whip then thundershock again!" Arina yelled out. Hopefully the thundershock would hit this time. Kara nodded. She then looked at the Azumarill and wagged her tail, trying to lower its defense even more. She then fired a thundershock at it. Hopefully this attack would hit their target.

Arina could tell that this was going to be a tough battle. "Kara, watch out!" She yelled as she saw the oncoming ice beam. Kara looked up to see it. Freaking out, she took a step back, only to have the ice beam freeze her feet. "Pichu!" She yelled out in surprise, trying to free herself. Arina looked on, trying to think of a way out of this. "Uh.. Kara, use thundershock on the ice! It should free you." Arina yelled, hoping that this would work. Kara nodded, and fired a thundershock at the ice that was trapping her feet. The ice burst into pieces, flying in random directions. Arina had to move out of the way of one while Mark clung to her shoulder for safety. Kara looked down, happy to see that she was now free. "Chu!" She said in joy. She looked back at her opponent and dropped back down so she stood on four legs, sparks flying from her cheeks. Only to slip and fall.
Kara had only blasted the ice that was trapping her legs, nothing else so there was still a layer of ice where the water had been. "Pichu pi!" Kara tried to stand up but ended up slipping again. Shira's plan had worked... in a way. "Kara calm down!" Arina called out to her frustrated Pokémon. This wasn't going to end well. Thinking fast, she tried to come up with a solution. They were going to get hit no matter what now. "Kara use charm!" Even if they couldn't dodge it, they could at least soften the blow. Kara nodded and started to use charm, trying to hit the Azumirall even though she was on ice.

Arina could see that this attack would be bad, even with the charm attack. She didn't know what to do though. Kara couldn't move on the ice and there was no way to stop it. Not with all the momentum the Azurmirall had gained from the ice. "uh..." Arina stuttered, unsure of what to do. If she didn't do something then Kara was going to get hit but she couldn't think of what to do.
Kara could see that the double edge was going to hit her and she panic. Instinctively, she fired a thundershock but she wasn't really aiming. She just did it because she was scared and didn't know what else to do. She didn't even know if it had hit the Azurmirall. Then the double edge hit her. Kara flew backwards, sliding on the ice until there wasn't any more there. She flew back onto the ground. She laid there mot moving.
"K-Kara, are you okay?!" Arina yelled worried. Mark even squeaked out a worried, "Icky...." Kara moved. She slowly managed to get to her feet but even that was a struggle. She was struggling to stay awake. The only thing that kept her going was her determination and fighting spirit. But there didn't seem to be a way to win this battle. Kara could barely stand, let alone move. She was shaking with the effort of just standing. Arina did the smart thing. Not wanting to see Kara get hurt anymore then she already was, she pulled out her Pokeball. "Kara, return." Arina said. A red beam shot out of the Pokeball and Kara returned to her Pokeball. "Kara, you were great." Arina said before putting her Pokeball away. She knew that she had done the right thing. Now she needed to send out another Pokémon. She thought for a second before looking at Mark. "Mark, do you think..." Arina asked him quietly. Mark looked at the battle field then looked back at Arina. He had always been timid but he gathered up his courage and nodded.
"Okay. Mark, you’re up next!" Arina said. Mark jumped off of her shoulder and walked onto the field, staying away from the ice. He didn't want what happened to Kara to happen to him. He gulped and got ready to battle.

Arina watched as Shira switched out her Azumarill and sent in a Hariyama. I don't think she likes fair battles very much... She gulped nervously. She didn't want Mark to get hurt too bad and this Hariyama looked pretty strong. "Mark, use growl!" She called out. She didn't want him to get hurt too bad from an attack. Mark shivered in fear as he faced the opponent. His timid side was coming back and he felt terrified. "Icky…" He stuttered nervously. "Come on Mark! You can do this!" Arina cheered from the side lines trying to give her Pokémon confidence. Mark looked at his trainer and nodded. He could tell that she thought that he could win.
Mark turned and looked back at his opponent, feeling a little bit braver and more determined to win. He growled, trying to lower the Hariyama's attack power. This would hopefully soften any blow that the Hariyama could do to him. He stood there, waiting to see if his attack had worked and also for any new commands from Arina.

Mark smiled proudly as the growl attack worked. This helped to boost is confidence up a little.
And it fell right back down as the Hariyama use beat up. "Dang it..." Arina cursed under her breath. That had made their growl attack useless. Mark took an uneasy step back as the Hariyama started to use arm thrust. Arina was thinking, trying to figure out if Mark could take the hit. "Come on Mark, we can do this! Use bind!" Arina yelled as the Hariyama got closer.
Mark gulped then turned to face the oncoming attack. At the last second, he shut his eyes and started to glow red. He was starting to use bind. This was the move that Arina was planning to use to win. Actually, it was the only move they could use to win.
The arm thrust hit Mark, sending him flying backwards. He cried out in pain. "Come on Mark, you can do it!" Arina cried, hoping that Mark was okay. "Unleash bind!" She called out.
Mark lay on the ground, barely conscious. He struggled to stand; the red glow was still around him. Shakily, he lifted one of his hands and unleashed the bind attack. It was a white beam that flew across the field towards the Hariyama. If it hit, then it would cause twice the damage to the Hariyama that was done to Mark. With the bind unleashed, Mark had no energy left and passed out.
Arina quickly found Mark's Pokeball and returned him. "You were great Mark." She said to him before putting the Pokeball away. She then grabbed Nina's Pokeball and turned back to the battle. She wished that she had had some time to get to know Nina better before this battle. Who knew what the Absol was like. Arina sighed then looked up to see what damage the bind attack had done, Nina's Pokeball in her hand.

Arina was happy that the bind attack had knocked out the Hariyama. That’s what they get for using beat up and hurting Mark. Arina looked at the Charmeleon. It looked strong. She once again wished that she could have gotten to know Nina a little bit more. Gulping nervously, she threw the Pokeball. "Nina, you’re up!" Arina called out. The ball flew forward a couple of feet then opened. In a flash of light, an Absol stood on the field.
Nina looked around, trying to get a feel of where she was. She glanced back at Arina, knowing that she was her trainer. Nina examined her, wanting to know about this girl. She then turned to her opponents, and looked at them. She didn't really know what to think of them. Nina then thought back to if she liked Arina or not. Well she didn't call me the disaster Pokémon or even seemed like she thought that my kind caused disasters. I guess that's good enough to listen to her. For now. She thought to herself, deciding that she would listen to Arina for this battle.
"Nina, use feint!" Arina called. Nina, sticking with her decision to listen to Arina, ran forward, trying to hit the Charmeleon with feint.

Nina braced herself as she came closer to Leon. There was no way to stop her attack and she was going to run right into the mega punch. She did run into it. The feint attack and mega punch collided but it was obvious which attack was stronger. The mega punch was stronger because of the type advantage and Leon was simply at a higher level. The move blew Nina back a couple of feet and she landed hard on her side. She yelped in pain. Shakily, she got up, wondering if she should continue to listen to Arina. Nina didn't really know how to attack the Charameleon herself so she decided to just listen for now. "Nina, use leer!" Arina yelled out. Nina then glared at Leon, unleashing a leer attack. Hopefully this would lower its defense so that it would be easier to knock out.

Arina smiled as the leer attack hit. This would help them a lot. She then giggled at Shira's curse. Fudge nuggets? That was the best she could come up with? Arina thought to herself, amused at the curse. She gulped as she saw Leon move in with his next move. She didn't know how much more damage Nina could take but she didn't think she could take much more. Nina looked up as the iron tail came towards her. Arina opened her mouth to tell Nina to dodge it but Nina had already run off to the side, out of the way of the iron tail. She wasn't going to let herself get hit by it. She didn't care if Arina thought she should or not. Nina did not want to get damaged anymore. The iron tail was left to hit the place where Nina had been standing a few seconds ago. "Nina, use scratch!" Arina called out. Nina then ran forward. Her claws grew sharper as she ran. When Nina was in range, she leapt, swiping her claws at Leon in an attempt to scratch him. Only time would tell if this would work.

Arina grimaced. If Nina got hit by that then they were done for. There wasn't any time to dodge. "Nina, block it with your scythe!" Arina screamed. She didn't even know if this would work. She had panicked and yelled the first thing that came to her mind. Nina heard the command. She was unsure that this would work but there wasn't anything else she could do. Nina skidded to a stop. She lifted her head and turned it so that the black scythe that grew out over her head was in the way of the focus punch and braced herself. That's were the focus punch hit. She winced in pain but the plan had worked. The damaged had been minimized so that Nina barely held on. She was panting from the effort and was almost completely drained. But now Nina was in ranged for an attack. "Nina, use scratch!" Arina called out from the sidelines. Nina lifted her paw and swiped it at the Charmeleon. One more hit and Nina would faint. The only way for them to win was to get extremely lucky. But then, Nina's ability was super luck which raised the possibility of landing a critical hit. If they were lucky then super luck would activate and Nina would land a critical hit. With Leon's lowered defenses then a critical hit would most likely knock him unconscious. But first they actually had to hit the Charmeleon.

Arina felt hope curse through her as super luck activated. Maybe they could win this. Hopefully it would do enough damage. She was disappointed that Leon didn't faint. She had been hoping that he would. Nina panted. She couldn't take much more. She looked up at the ember attack. "Dodge it and use feint!" Arina called out. Nina narrowed her eyes and ran out of the way of the ember. The next second, the ember hit where she had just been standing. Nina then ran forward, and started to use feint. She lept at Leon, trying to hit him. Hopefully, he wouldn't dodge it and hopefully, he wouldn't be able to counter it with another move.
