| A dying neon light in a corner was giving the room even a creepier look with its flikering.
The red eyes behind the glasses were full of expectations: the woman in a white scientist coat had a satisfied smile on her face as everything was ready for the experimental test to begin.
She was watching through a glass the adjacent room, with a pen and a tablet. On the tablet, there were various notes on substances and dosages.
There, a scientist with a full chain suit was slowly opening a metal container closed with a triple set of locks when the sound of the safe clicking echoed through the room.
The woman smile increased slightly at the sight of the dark green stone the scientist extracted from the box. Dark blue reflections were glimmering inside that very peculiar thunder stone.
The pen clicked and the woman ticked a small square on the tablet, then set her attention at the table in the same room she was looking in.
Over the table, an angry pikachu was uselessly wasting its electrics attacks on the metal cage it was imprisoned in. What a stupid creature: no one wanted to hurt it, but it was desperately trying to get out of that prison anyway.
A new smile was depicted on the woman's face. An assistant, silently watching a few steps beside her couldn't help but shiver a little at that sight. She was a sadistic woman, no doubts, and that side was what made her respected in Team Delta.
With the stone in the chained glove, the scientist in the adjacent room approached the pokèmon, hesitating.
Why was that stupid hesitating now? The woman's sense of expectation was so high, she couldn't wait that coward's reaction. She put a finger on a button on the wall and spoke, with a warm, reassuring tone.
"What are you waiting for, Jim? You just have to drop it on it and back off. It's easy."
The man in the next room shivered considerably.
"It's in a Faraday Cage, and you have a Faraday Cage on yourself, that pikachu can't scratch you. Just drop that stone on it!"
The last phrase had no reassuring tone: it was clearly an order.
She knew she had to avoid to look bossy on her colleagues, but he was kinda ruining the moment.
She moved away her hair from the forehead and smiled again, when the chain-dressed man finally found the courage to toss that altered tunder stone into the cage.
It happened. And it was beautiful. Dark rays of energy were glowing as the pikachu's figure disappeared engulfed in them. The pokèmon was screaming, who knows if it was pain, or simple terror. Strangely though, she wasn't smiling, just annotating that fact on the tablet, in religious silence.
The man in the adjacent room leaned against the opposite wall, completely shocked. Her assistant had both hands on his mouth. She had to remain calm and assist at that priceless event as professionally as possible.
It didn't last long: nothing more than five seconds: the pikachu stopped screaming, and accepted its new evolution.
A figure resembling a raichu was now standing inside the cage, with the long black tail ending in a sharp thunder: it wasn't golden, like all raichu use to have it, but of a shining silver.
The cloud dissipated, and what she saw was simply beautiful.
A dark grey raichu with black stripes and slightly red eyes was biting the bars of the cage that was now barely containing it inside.
The long tail waved, glowed sligtly and crushed on the metal cage, freeing the pokèmon, that was now standing on the table, still waving the tail nervously, with the now broken bar still serrated into its teeths in a menacing grin.
She elegantly pressed the button on the wall and spoke again "Jim, please, detach fom the wall and bring our new specimen in room 22 for type testing...and for the love of god, try to smile: the experiment was a total success!"
The woman with red eyes stared at the clock on her wrist and a new smile was on her face again. She let the pen and the tablet on a desk and undid her long braid, letting her black hair free. She had a conference soon, and didn't want to look bad.
"Oh!" she spoke again into the repeater on the wall "If the tests are completed successfully, that one is mine". | |
